REFINE - REDUCE - REPLACE ...meets Design Thinking
0/-
Optional or Mandatory:
This course is optional for doctoral researchers at the BSRT
Description:

One big challenge for PhD students and Postdocs who perform animal experiments is how to address this sensitive topic and the associated ethical concerns in a satisfying manner. Most scientists working with animals are willing to use and work on Reduction, Refinement and Replacement (3Rs) in animal experimentation, but require more knowledge of the implementation of alternative methods.

The 3R principle for research with animals is of utmost significance and offers great potential for advancement. The Design Thinking process will help us to identify key questions, perform research with a focus on empathy for the users, and design realistic solutions. Important aspects of the process are interdisciplinary teamwork, a flexible work environment, visualization and empathy.
