Is an English test necessary?
An English test is not required if you are a native speaker or if you can prove that you did at least two years of your education in English or spent a longer period in an English speaking country. For all others an English test is also not mandatory although we highly recommend applicants provide a proof of their proficiency in English. If an application is very good it will not be automatically excluded simply because an English test was not submitted if we are convinced that the applicant has no problem to communicate in English. A very good command of the English language is required to be able to communicate within the Research School, but the scientific qualifications and the motivation are the important aspects for a successful application.
